Murcia Hotels

My experience shows that lot of travellers visit Murcia for a weekend break and don't want to hire a car during their stay, preferring to find somewhere central which is within walking distance to the Cathedral, Old Town, shops, bars and restaurants. With this in mind I have listed the seven most central hotels which are surrounded by shops and  places to eat and drink and just a few minutes away from most of the attractions. 

Many travellers fly into Murcia Airport to travel on to holiday destinations at the nearby Mar Menor and La Manga Resort, but there is a lot to see and do in the City of Murcia which has a number of historic attractions including a Cathedral and Old town and some beautiful botanic gardens.  The journey from Murcia San Javier Airport into the city centre takes about 40 minutes.

So to save you time trying to find out which hotels are close to the main attractions, take it from me that these are the most central places to stay …

Catalonia Condes de Floridablanca

Modern four star hotel with 82 rooms over 6 floors situated in the city centre of Murcia next to the Floridablanca Garden and near the Cathedral, historic centre, auditorium and the Congress Hall.

Hesperia

Three star hotel with 120 bright and airy guest rooms in the city centre close to the Cathedral and a few minutes walk from the Jardin Botanica.

Hispano

Three star hotel with just 35 rooms standing in the historic centre just  a few metres from the most popular historic attractions. Because of  its great location, you can forget about the car andexplore the city on foot from this hotel as close by is the cathedral, town hall, casino and Teatro Romea.

Four star hotel with 97 rooms located in the historic centre of Murcia in the Conde Floridablanca Palace.  It has a very  central location right beside the Cathedral and the best restaurants in  the city.

Modern three star hotel with 61 guest rooms which opened in 2004 facing the Plaza de Las Flores  and Cathedral of Murcia, just  20 metres from the Palace and Market Almudí Verónicas.

Las Coronas

Modern four star hotel with 155 rooms which was completely renovated in 2007. Located in the historic and commercial centre of the city, you can walk to the Cathedral,  Museum Salzillo, Teatro Romea, Belluga Cardinal Square, Plaza de Toros de Murcia and other attractions.

NH Rincon de Pepe

Modern four star hotel with 148 rooms in the city centre near the Cathedral. The Gran Casino Murcia is on the first floor of the hotel. It serves traditional Spanish tapas at the bar or for a more formal meal  you can visit their very popular gourmet restaurant. You can also enjoy a cocktail at The Wall.

Or maybe are looking for some slightly cheaper accommodation like a hostal or bed and breakfast, are there are several budget hotels on the outskirts of the city centre, but what you save on the cost of the hotel you will probably spend on taxis or public transport to get into central Murcia which is where all the best shops, bars and restaurants are located.

Again to save money on transfer costs, if you are travelling in from Murcia Airport there is a bus from outside the terminal building which takes you into the bus station in the city centre. Latbus number 73 runs three times a day, 7 days a week from the airport, departing at 17.45, 19.15 and 22.45. The journey time is 45 minutes and the cost of a single fare is €7.00.
